Backlinks or sometimes also regarded as ‘’inbound links’’ or the ‘’incoming links’’, are a connection between two websites. It is when one site links to another.

The most primary example can be seen in online product sites. It is when one website which has a product, and it also mentions another in its description or details. The other product is not owned by the original site, but it’s a reference made to one developed by an additional site. This ‘’reference’’ made from one site to another is in the form of backlinks.

Backlinks fall in the category of off-page SEO. It plays a very significant role in the metrics like Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA) of your website, which therefore shape your site rating.
