Taj Mehal, Agra, India

The Taj Mehal, Agra(India) is known as one of the wonders of the world.It was built in the 17th century. Its estimated cost at that time was around 32 million rupees. Its architect was Ustad Ahmad Lahauri and white marble was used for its construction. It is situated on the bank of river Yamuna (Agra). It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his most favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal (Arjumand Bano Begum). She died in 1631 during a child birth. Mumtaz Mahal was daughter of Mirza Abul Hasan (Asif Jah) who was brother in law of emperor Jehangir. Tomb of Asif Jah is located at Shadara in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. Mumtaz Mahal did not take any interest in affairs of state. Tomb of Shah Jehan is also here. The total area of this wonderful historical heritage complex is 42 acres. There are beautiful green lawns, full of many kinds of fragrance giving flower plants. It includes a beautiful mosque and a guest house.
Abundance of ever green trees have made this place very romantic and facinating. No doubt, this masoleum is a matchless example of beauty and is counted in wonders of the world. Taj Mahal is known as symbol of love in the world of romanticism. Lovers often gift model of Taj Mahal to their mashooqs. A large number of tourists from all over the world visit this masoleum every year. If ever you have a chance to visit India, must visit this wonder of the world. The Taj Mahal was designated as a UNESCO world heritage site in 1983 for being “Jewel of Muslim art in India”.
